Gil Boyne - Mind Power Cassettes

Gil Boyne is a certified hypnotherapist. He is not some average hypnotherpaist, he is one of the pioneers of the profession of hypnotherapy and a true master of hypnotherapy (other hypnotherapists say that he is the greatest of all time). Gil Boyne has been awarded "Man of the Century" by the International Hypnosis Hall of Fame in 2000. Many hypnotherapists have been molded and developed by Gil Boyne in his courses.

According to his website: Gil Boyne has made numerous original contributions to the contemporary practice of hypnotherapy. He has brought to the counseling professions an awareness of the "inner wisdom” of the human psyche. He teaches that the “inner creative mind” not only knows all the questions but knows all of the answers as well.

Recently, I found a cassette with a couple of Boyne's self-hypnosis programs. He teaches the listener the art of self-hypnosis on side 1. On side 2, he helps the listener learn the secrets of success and overcome the mentality of the willingness to fail.

I think I ought to play this tape during sleep especially side 2 as I feel like I am going to be successful and wealthy just by listening to side 2. I should have it played every night with headphones or earbuds on just like what happens to the children as they are subjected to hypnopaedia or sleep-teaching in Brave New World. I learn that desiring wealth then increasing my wealth is spiritual fulfillment and will become my destiny.

John Cook - And God Gave Me a Fix: The John Cook Story

John Cook was not always an evangelist. He used to be an actor who went by the name Sonny Austin. He mainly had bit parts and he was also a stuntman. He was on the receiving end of John Wayne and Lee Marvin fight scenes as John tells the audience. When he was not doing his day job, John was living a life doing drugs, drinking, smoking, partying, carrousing around and getting into real fights (none involved John Wayne or Lee Marvin). In other words, he lived the life of a sinner. John did just about anything that was available to get high including sniffing glue, smoking marijuana, and injecting dope.

The drugs and the Hollywood lifestyle started to take a toll on John who had everything including jewels, Cadillacs, tailor-made suits, beautiful women, swimming pools, etc. Before he decided to leave Hollywood for the slower environs of Missouri, John was involved in a terrible family tragedy. He also attempted to cut his wrists. Eventually he departed Hollywood suffering the effects of heavy drug and alcohol use, but stopped in northwestern Oklahoma. This is where he handcuffed himself to his bed so he could go turkey and kick his drug habit. He did that and became a Christian.

He ended up in Oklahoma City. John does not say how he ended up there. Apparently when this record came out, John Cook was on the circuit preaching against the evils of drugs, drinking and smoking as well as telling audiences what a horrible person he was. I'm sure that John scared the bejeezus out of the youth in attendance. I would have been. In fact, on a couple of occasions as a child, I went to hear preachers speak who mostly screamed and ranted about every 15 seconds about the sins of the world. I was frightened enough not to do anything deemed wrong. I think I was more afraid of incurring the wrath of those preachers than of God. These preachers were much more intimidating than John although this record did bring back memories.

Yanie Brewer - reading (at a fair or convention)

I found this cassette at a library sale a few months ago. I found this tape on the same day I found those New Age Movement cassettes that are in the previous two posts. The tape is just a white cassette with no labels or marks and it came with a business card of one Yanie Brewer (photo above). As you can see from the business card, Yanie is a clairvoyant who apparently specializes in past life readings.

The tape has a recording of Yanie doing a reading at either a fair or a convention or some other kind of gathering of folks. I can't tell if this was recorded by Yanie herself or if this was (likely secretly) recorded by the person who was receiving the reading. I suspect it is the latter. Only one side of the tape has a recording of Yanie at work, the other side is blank.

To learn more about Ms. Yanie Brewer, I consulted my best friend, Google. Google did not find much information about Ms. Brewer, but as usual it did its best to retrieve what relevant information it could find. One of the few sites Google found says this about Brewer: An experienced intuitive teacher and healer, Yanie Leaha Kyra [Brewer] brings her talents into her journey to assist people in their awareness and soul connection. . . . Yanie Brewer is a local Austinite [Austin, Texas] who spends her life learning and being the most she can about "spirit" and the universe. This cassette is a lecture Walker gave on the day prior to the day he discussed new age in schools (which is in the previous post). Walker explains the basics of the new age movement (actually how he perceives the new age movement). Some of the people who attended the lecture were given workbooks. I never came across the workbook, just this tape.
I've been really busy busy lately that I have not been able to update this blog as much as I would like. I finally got around to posting this tape as I wanted to post it a few days after the last post. It's actually been a while since I listened to this tape. I don't remember everything that this guy said. I do remember that he said something like the new age movement nearly died in the early half of the 20th century and that The Beatles single-handedly revived the new age movement. Now the new age movement is thriving and corrupting young minds everywhere. People seem to be happier having their own sets of beliefs which is not a good thing in Mr. Walker's eyes. Rest assured that Walker and his organization, the Watchman Fellowship, are there to save the world from the new age movement and their powerful minions like Oprah, George Lucas and Madonna.

James Walker - The New Age in Our Schools: The Three R's

This tape was produced by a group called the Watchman Fellowship which is "an independent and apologetics ministry focusing on new religious movements, cults, the occult and the New Age." The president of this organization is James Walker who is the lecturer on this tape. The Watchman Fellowship believes what is really the competition in the area of beliefs (those new religious movements, cults, the occult and the New Age) is dangerous to mankind. One of the specialties of this organization is knowing how to "witness" to members of cults and new religions or how to convince members of cults and new religions that their beliefs of Christianity are better.

I'm sure the Watchman Fellowship's heart is in the right place. After all, they're trying to protect us from those strange belief systems of other humans. Assumably, we all should not only believe but accept that what the Watchman Fellowship believes is true. The Watchman Fellowship is watching out for us, but who is watching the Watchman Fellowship? Sorry, couldn't resist.

On this tape, Walker claims that the New Age movement has infiltrated the public schools to attempt to teach/brainwash the children "the three R's" which are not reading, writing and arithmetic. They are relaxation, relativism and reality manipulation. Speaking from personal experience, I have never encountered anything to do with the New Age during all of my 12 years in public school. Maybe back then these New Age dudes with their ideas of relaxation, relativism and reality manipulation were lurking outside of the school walls with the drug dealers waiting to corrupt the innocent and naive young people such as myself.

One of the highlights of this lecture is where Walker plays a tape allegedly of a New Age spirit guide working over a third grade class. The tape is supposedly recorded by a student. That particular tape sounds enticing enough that I would like to get a copy myself. I want to know more about the white rabbit with long ears and pink eyes. This part starts at about the 28:20 mark on side 1.

Notes: Someone named Rick Branch is credited as compiling the material on this tape, but since Walker is the only one doing the lecture and there's no more information available about Rick Branch, only James Walker is credited here.

There are clicks throughout the files. That is because the condition of the tape itself is not very good. Also, side 2 the sound quality is lower. The listener will have to turn up the volume when listening to side 2.

Pat Robertson - The New World Order

This is the audiobook version of the bestselling book. Yes, this was #7 on The New York Times Bestseller List for non-fiction books when this book came out in 1991 and I think it went higher during the following few weeks (I see it was on the list with La Toya Jackson's and Katherine Hepburn's books, Jonathan Kozol's important book, Savage Inequalities, that Iron John book, Madonna Unauthorized among others). It is probably safe to assume that this is the highest book about the New World Order that has ever charted on The New York Times bestseller list. This audiobook version is a 2 tape condensed version.

Pat attempts to expose that wicked globalist collective which includes The Illuminati, The Council on Foreign Relations, The Trilateral Commission, The Freemasons, The New Age Movement, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and other devious and sneaky characters. (Actually, Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash is not mentioned by Pat, anyway moving on.) Pat seems like he is afraid of The New World Order. I would think that someone with the power to divert hurricanes would have what it takes in going up against that diabolical Illuminati.
Pat points out that he is a privleged man whose father was a senator for many years which enabled Pat to be raised as a rich kid who got many opportunities that many other people do not have including attending Yale. Despite his status as an elitist, he still opposes the New World Order because he says he believes in freedom, an equal opportunity for all. Apparently, Pat does not believe that everyone deserves freedom especially if he stands to profit from mining diamonds. Most of Pat's fellow privileged human beings, rather I mean The New World Order does not seem to share Pat's religious beliefs which may make Pat really paranoid and hateful.
The New World Order is worth a listen as it is quite illuminating; not exactly on the state of the real world, but on what is going on in Pat Robertson's world.

Sometime back in January, someone asked about a game in the comments of one of my posts. This game had a record that you could play during the course of the game. It is a game called Seance that is about inheriting a rich dead uncle's fortune and the uncle left clues on the record.

A little over a week ago at the annual public library sale, I found a cassette tape that is a part of the game PSI*KICK. PSI*KICK is a game created by someone named Oscar Miro-Quesada. This game was designed for the players to practice using their psychic abilities that people supposedly possess. Aside from the cassette tape, the game comes with an instruction book, sets of cards, four dice, dowsing rods, scorecards, etc. I did not find the game, just the tape. PSI*KICK has 20 separate games to develop and use your potential psychic powers.

On side A, Oscar explains how you can enhance your ESP powers just by relaxing and meditating. Yes, just by relaxing and meditating. On side B, Oscar teaches you how to do Uri Geller moves by using your psychokinetic powers that you should have to bend forks. Curiously, there is no information on how to develop your ESP or psychokinetic powers on Oscar's website.

The deadline (April 15) here in the US of A to file taxes is approaching. Maybe some will be lucky and receive a refund. Others will not be so lucky as they owe taxes. Perhaps these unlucky folks can take comfort in the entertaining and heartfelt songs on this album. I am kind of surprised that the country style song, "Cut the Thievin' Hands off the IRS" is not more known. It is basically an anthem for those who don't like paying taxes especially to the IRS. I'm sure that these folks would be singing "Taxanity" in the shower often if the song was more widely distributed.

Ajay Lowery was a member of the United Soverign Party which seems to be similar to the Libertarian Party. The United Soverign Party was headquartered in Clinton, Arkansas.

Ajay cut and released this LP in 1984 when he ran for president of the US. Obviously, Ajay was not successful as Reagan won in a landslide. Along with anti-tax anthems, there are heartfelt anti-war songs. In my opinion, this LP succeeds as a means to get the attention of people to listen to viewpoints not often heard in the mainstream media. Ron Paul probably should think about doing an album.

"I am an outraged sovereign American and I am running for President in 1984." These are the words of a determined, dedicated, God-fearing man who loves his Country and the principles which made America great. He believes that she may be great again.

Arthur J. (Ajay) Lowery is a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and for the past 12 years, the Publisher of the Justice Times, the National Voice of the Second American Tax Freedom Movement, with subscribers in all fifty states. Jim Bakker - How to Accomplish the Impossible with the Big Three Mountain Movers

Jim Bakker is a televangelist who was the leader of the PTL (Praise the Lord) Club with his then wife Tammy Faye Baker from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s. Bakker's time as head of the PTL Club is the most memorable time in his career as he had a media empire consisting of not only a TV show, The PTL Club, but also a cable network, an amusement park (Heritage USA) as well as a luxury hotel. Jim and Tammy preached the prosperity gospel telling people it's okay to live lavish lifestyles by obtaining lots of money and excessive material possessions . Even God wanted people to live like this according to the Bakkers. Before they became famous, Jim and Tammy started out in Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) where they came up with the idea of the variety show format and made the show The 700 Club the successful program it is today. Afterward, they moved out to California to help Paul and Jan Crouch with their then new network, Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) where the Bakkers were involved in the creation of the Praise the Lord show that still airs on TBN to this day. Then the Bakkers left for Charlotte, North Carolina to launch their show, The PTL Club. It is clear that Jim and Tammy Bakker have played a major role in the success of the two biggest and most successful Christian media ministries today, CBN and TBN.

In the late 80s, PTL crumbles due to accounting and fraud scandals by Jim Bakker and his underlings. Jim also decided to move a couple of mountains of his friend, Jessica Hahn, in some hotel room which Jim also paid her to keep hush about the affair. Jim was hauled to prison for a few years and Tammy divored him in 1992. Meanwhile, Jessica did okay with appearances in some photo spreads for Playboy which I'm sure are tasteful and in TV shows (Married With Children) and music videos (Sam Kinison's "Wild Thing").

Jim was released from prison and started over. He has remarried, moved to Branson, Missouri and has a new TV show, The Jim Bakker Show. Apparently, Jim has gained a greater understanding of The Bible and he vows to no longer fleece people for every dollar they have and spend the money on himself.

This LP was released in 1977 when the PTL Club was just getting started. It was recorded at PTL Studios, Heritage Village, Charlotte, North Carolina. The liner notes written by Gary Paxton provide more information about the LP:

My endeavor to describe Jim Bakker in a few short words is an impossible task. It would take several pages just to outline his accomplishments, several more to explain his failures, and still several more to explain the mountain of mountains he has encountered in his ministry. One thing I have learned in the few short years I have been closely associated with Jim, is that he will not run from or back down when he is faced with a mountain. In the type of ministry he leads as President of the PTL Television network, almost every mountain I have seen him encounter was so big no one (any of us) could see over or even around any of the mountain. Today on the 17th of February in the year 2009, all television stations here in the United States were all supposed to permanently cease broadcasting with an analog signal and switch to broadcasting in digital. The date has been pushed back to June 12 by Congress because not everyone is ready to make the switch. The government has ran out of funds to provide for the coupons to purchase converter boxes. I should be lucky that I received my $40 coupon earlier last year to buy a converter box which I did. I say this because in the area where I live, nearly all of the local stations are switching today to digital whether people like it or not.
I guess the TV stations are saying in effect to the public, 'if you are not ready to watch our programming in beautiful digital quality, tough luck.' It seems that the local TV stations have a rather callous attitude towards their viewing public. What could possibly happen is that people really start to realize that most of the content aired on the local stations is mostly shit (infomercials, judge shows, mindless talk shows, news that is not really news, just sensationalistic pap, not to mention the junk known as advertisements that interrupt the programs or shows). Therefore, people would start to watch less television which results in declining ratings for the stations as well as lost revenue because hardly anyone is watching the ads. What I've said sounds overly optimistic, but there is a good chance that the scenario depicted takes place although I would place a low percentage on that actually happening. Most people here are just too addicted to the tube and if they can't get any coupons they'll just use the money that is set aside for food, the house payment, or bills and get a converter box or a digital TV so they won't miss out on "Desperate Housewives" and they want to watch their favorite newsanchor/TV personality. Also, it seems that most of the culture people here have nowadays comes from commercials.

Yes, I know this post is about a record that offers lessons for TV repair people on how to provide customer service. I'm sure that the lessons dispensed on this LP would apply today, but only used for the lucky elite people that have the equipment to watch the all-digital broadcasted TV.

Bob is a hero. Not just any plain hero. He is a holy hero. He tried to save souls in the modern version of Sodom and Gomorrah. He tried to purge wickedness from the place, but he couldn't get it done. It's still a decadent place full of drinking, strip clubs, partying, not to mention girls flashing their breasts at passersby. There is no doubt that the place is decadent when there have been several volumes of Girls Gone Wild videos filmed in the place. Oh, by the way, Mardi Gras is just around the corner. BOB HARRINGTON - HOLY HERO. Ours is an age without heroes. And, when we say this, we suddenly realize how spectacularly the world has changed in a short time. We are glad that he has determined to be God's great man, for in the words of Emerson, "Great men exist that there may be greater men." Bob Harrington strides toward greatness as God's man so there may be an army of God's men to follow.

I don't care what anyone may think, Fred Lowery is an inspiration. Having to endure the difficulties in his daily life, Fred Lowery possesses an amazing talent to whistle. Jeebus, I can't whistle worth a shit. Not only can Fred Lowery whistle tunes with precision and in pitch, he can imitate bird calls to the point where they sound like the real thing! If it was Fred Lowery only imitating bird calls on this LP, I could pretend that this is one of my nature sounds posts on my other blog and no one would know the difference. Today is the big day. A new era begins. The often misunderestimated George "Dubya" Bush is no longer the president. I'm sure that today will be a sad day for a lot of people especially for those here in Oklahoma and the few other states that voted for Sarah Palin. Since Sarah Palin lost, oops I mean John McCain lost the election, God will no longer have a place in the Oval Office. The White House also will no longer be occupied by a regular guy with whom you want to have a beer with. Now America will look forward to having communism/socialism, devil worship, free love, and worst of all, intellectualism ushered in the consciousness of American society.

I was going to post the Bushisms collection that is a compilation of audio clips where former President GWB articulates his ideas and policies on various topics, but it's not on my laptop. I'm out of town at the moment. However, I did find this gem on my laptop. Vince Hatfield's song was found somewhere on the webs several years ago. Vince wrote this song in 2000 while driving from home to his oil producing business. Sometime after God's president was given the keys to the White House, Vince performed the song at Bush's going away party in Midland, Texas. As Vince sings, indeed Bush has made the world proud of the USA. While listening to this tune, people can look back fondly on the last eight years as Bush has brought back morality and families. Surely, the wonderful man of values and character would not lie about engaging in war of aggression against another country much less committing the act of attacking another country in the first place and putting America into a massive deficit as a result. Now tears will flow because George Bush will no longer lead on.

I think that there's an unwritten rule that you have to include a celebrity who attempts singing when you do one of these wacky/weird/oddball/novelty type of sites. The celebrity is supposed to be someone who not only specializes in an area of entertainment other than music, but who has achieved some kind of success in that area. For example, I'm sure you already know about actors William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy who thought for some reason they also had musical talent where they recorded and released a few albums for public consumption. Sometimes the celebrities' attempts are downright entertaining despite the lack of talent (e.g. Shatner and Nimoy). Actually it seems that the less talent there is, the more entertaining the results are.
Before I get back to posting the usual assortment of preachers, hypnotists, self-improvement gurus and other visionaries, here's my celebrity contribution, Mr. George Burns. He is most famous for the George Burns and Gracie Allen Show on radio and TV. That was around before my time and no reruns of that show ever appeared in my area. So to me, he is most famous as God in the movie Oh God! and its two sequels.

After all the kidding about George Burns' singing, I was surprised when Neil Bogart, head of Buddah Records asked me to produce an album with George. Neil and Scott Shukat, head of the William Morris office, felt an album by the multitalented Burns, would be fantastic.
Off to California to produce the album. With me, Larry Fallon, arranger extraordinaire.

George: How about a little comedy between the tunes?

As the great pro would, George breezed through the album, and sang every note of the way - he finished every song, and if anyone thinks he can't sing a ballad, listen to AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'. After MR. BO JANGLES, the musicians applauded him. The album came out so great, we decided not to fit the comedy bits in!
Fallon's tasty arrangements set the many moods of this album; the lightness of WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS, 1941, YOU MADE ME LOVE YOU medley, the George Burns favorites; I'LL BUY THE RING and GRIZZLEY BEAR, and the very sad, but meaningful OLD FOLKS.
George Burns is a great talent, a wonderful man, it was an honor and a pleasure to produce this album. I am sure, as the last song in the album states: "The sun will always shine on his street."

Usually I don't try to put my visitors to sleep on this blog. I hope that everything or at least just about everything I post is exciting and engaging on some level. However with this post, I'm going in a different direction. Maybe one of you is having trouble going to sleep. After listening to this tape, that should not be a problem. You'll never need sleeping pills again. Yes, the intention of this tape is to aid people in going to sleep. But, speaking from personal experience, there are other reasons people can fall asleep easily when listening or hearing this tape.

Barrie Konicov, who regularly releases tapes all containing subliminal messages pertaining to different subjects and who was featured in a previous post, this time attempts to help the listener sleep. As with the previous post, side 1 of the tape has new agey music with sounds of the ocean in the background. The music is actually a little better on this tape than on the Stop Smoking tape. Then on side 2, Barrie does his thing.

The listener is supposed to hear subliminal messages while listening to the music on side 1. I don't hear any messages, but about seven minutes into it, I'm knocked out cold. About side 2, actually I never made it all the way through. I think I'm usually asleep half way into Barrie's message. It may be his voice that does the job. I also get the impression that Barrie may be a bore. He seems to be someone who keeps droning on about whatever he is talking about. Barrie doesn't really need to try to offer suggestions for relieving insomnia. Barrie could talk about anything such as how mortgage rates are calculated or what wine to match with which meat or something interesting like the Dadaist movement for example and the listener could still be asleep in no time from having to listen to Barrie.

(yawn) I think I'm getting sleepy from writing this post. If you need to get some sleep, give this tape a try. I guarantee it will work. (falling on the keyboard zzzzzzzzzzzz)

Recently, fellow Basement dweller, The Basement Rug, left me a comment letting me know that he posted minister Frank Garlock's LP The Big Beat: A Rock Blast. Overall, Garlock tells us that rock 'n' roll is evil. I suppose that he arrived at his conclusion since he has claimed to have listened to more than 2000 rock songs in a single week. I do wonder if Garlock has a personal struggle with himself in that deep down he really loves rock 'n' roll, but he can't fully accept himself maybe because he had a strict religious upbringing. He feels that he must suppress his love of rock 'n' roll because he fears being ostracized from God and his fellow fundamental Christians.

A year after The Big Beat was posted, The Basement Rug posted a mix called the Frank Garlock Remix Project that features snippets from The Big Beat and some notable rock 'n' roll songs that involve spiritual themes.

Recently, Dr. Frank Garlock (yup, he's a doctor now) has returned to lecturing about that evil music. Obviously, he still has trouble accepting himself. Dr. Garlock had a two-part (two-day) lecture called "The Morality of Music" at Bob Jones University, the place where interracial dating, dancing and smooching is still not allowed. Dr. Frank has learned that evil rock music has planted itself in Christian culture in the form of CCM (Contemporary Christian Music). This lecture is available on some website, but you have to give your e-mail address before you can download anything. You'll be receiving e-mail often from the folks behind that website. I'm sure that you have to deal with plenty of unwanted e-mail everyday such as for penis enlargement and from people in foreign countries asking if you can hold their money in your bank account. Since I'm a nice guy, I'll save you the burden of dealing with additional unwanted e-mail and provide a separate link for Dr. Frank's important lecture. The files are low quality as that is how they were posted, but you should be grateful anyway that you can save yourself from CCM.

I should point out that it's not actually Mona Ling who does the lecturing on this LP. It is some tool instead and Success Motivation Institute (SMI) did not bother to give his name or credit him. I paid only a dollar for this used record at one of the flea markets in Oklahoma City, but I still somehow feel ripped off as I was expecting a woman's voice (i.e. Mona Ling) to do the narration. With a name like Mona, there could be expectations of hearing a sexy woman's voice. That's what I was hoping for as I have no doubt that Ms. Mona Ling has a very pleasant voice and I am more likely to learn how to make appointments and sell stuff by telephone. Why is Mona absent from the record? Was Mona not allowed to speak? Was she really timid and afraid to have her self recorded? With her credentials that is plastered all over the back cover, I would think that Mona spoke somewhere on the record.

My copy came with a booklet that has the script of the narration, the best times to call for different professions, instructions for breathing exercises and voice work, a self-analysis chart for telephone sales approach, etc. The booklet is supposed to be used as an aid as one can listen to the record and read the script at the same time. This is called the double sensory impact as the message is firmly implanted in the mind of the listener/reader. This is supposed to enable people to become more successful according to SMI. Keep in mind that some used copies of SMI records are missing these booklets as I have a few of their other records without booklets.

Lucky for you, you can learn how to better sell stuff by phone with the booklet available. Even better, thanks to cell phones, you can do this anywhere such as the coffee shop, the grocery store, while driving in traffic, at the park, etc. So what if other people around you become irritated at having to hear you talk. You probably gab on your cell phone in public anyway when talking to your friends or lovers. The important thing is that you're on your way to success.

A Basement of Curiosities is a year old

One year and one day ago, January 3, 2008 to be exact, A Basement of Curiosities was given life in this world. Even I am a little surprised that it has made it this far considering that, according to my educated estimate based upon my expertise of blogs, somewhere around 60% of blogs don't even make it 3/4 of a year. These wannabe bloggers eventually learn that constantly updating posts does take a little bit of effort and time after all. These people come to realize that having a life is more important than writing (or copying and pasting stuff) for blog posts. It is too much trouble and not worthwhile as hardly any of the bloggers' few readers bothers to write a comment just to say "good job man, keep up the good work." Perhaps some people do not have what it takes to blog. I think it takes a special kind of person to not only keep updating their blog(s), but to do this for quite a long time. I don't mean to sound arrogant just because I also have another blog that is over 2 years old. Okay, I am arrogant, but as you can figure out I also really do not have much of a life after all.

Seriously, this blog was created as a place to post stuff that would not be a good fit on my other blog. I thought that the records and other stuff already featured here deserve their own place (i.e. as far away from all that is good as possible). This is where I admit my love for apocalyptic and overly moralistic religious sermon records, success-motivation records, and just about anything "out there."

A lot of noteworthy events has taken place during this blog's first year of existence. For instance, there was a presidential election in the USA that had repercussions on not only the state of the nation, but of the world, as well, where for the first time ever, an African-American person will be the leader of America. Also, gas prices went skyrocketing high then suddenly they dropped to their lowest prices in 5 or 6 years. A swimmer named Michael Phelps (representing the USA of course) has won a record 8 gold medals in the Olympics. One of the county commissioners of Oklahoma County, Brent Rinehart, tried to win re-election with a comic book about Satan and his evil minions who happen to be gay who are trying to stop Brent from doing whatever county commissioners are supposed to do. He failed miserably to win his party's nomination.

Most important of all, my hometown of Oklahoma City got its first-ever professional major-league or big-league (the phrase preferred by the locals) sports team, the NBA (National Basketball Association) team, formerly the Seattle Supersonics now renamed the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder is wowing everyone with an impressive record of 4 wins and 30 losses (as of this writing). That doesn't really matter now as Oklahoma City is a "big league city." For his efforts, chief owner of the OKC Thunder, Clay Bennett, has been named Oklahoman of the Year by Oklahoma Today magazine, the magazine I think that is read by all Oklahomans. Stealing, er I mean relocating a team with 41 years of tradition and that has brought Seattle its only championship and bringing said team to OKC is Mr. Bennett's accomplishment that won him Oklahoman of the Year. Great work, Clay. Gotta love those uniforms too.

I've made some new year's resolutions. I vow to improve myself in all facets of life. Thank goodness, I have a role model in Clay Bennett to look up to as he is a highly successful individual as you should already know. I'll also attempt to post more often in this blog. I know that it's really pointless to make new year's resolutions as I'll likely forget about them in a week. And I will do that. But one resolution that I won't disregard is the one where I say I'll post more. In fact, I'll resume regular or rather irregular posting with a new post tomorrow.
