An album full of heart sounds and those sounds being explained with a clinical British accent sounds good to me. Now, I have a desire to find former medical students and ask if they still have their record collections that I can dig through.

Cool, Just what I needed, a record for people who have problems hearing. The record includes demonstrations on how difficult it is to hear when certain frequencies are not present, guidance for helping people with hearing problems along with "an unfair hearing test" which a form comes included with the record for people to write their answers. Perhaps the previous owner(s) of this LP didn't need a hearing test as my form is unfilled and appears to be in the same condition as it was when this record was released. Gosh, I hope my visitors do not have hearing issues as I do not want anyone to miss out on the educational and entertaining offerings this blog provides. Just in case there are hearing problems, the record provides guidance on selecting a hearing aid. Come to think of it, I'll be needing this record soon as for quite a long time I have been constantly listening to loud music at a higher-than-normal volume level especially that noise stuff from the likes of Merzbow and Wolf Eyes.

This is one of the weirdest records I've ever heard. It certainly is among the top 1% of the weirdest, most frightening and most awesome LPs in my collection. As one can figure out, this is a collection of recorded sounds of children (mainly infants) crying. The cries differ by the various illnesses and diseases that the children are afflicted with. I'm not sure this is something that would be played during parties, gatherings of friends and family, or romantic moments, but then again you never know. I'm sure this record has been helpful to other pediatricians and medical professionals. Why else would something like have been released, right?

This was put out by Phizer which is one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies or to be more specific Phizer Laboratories Division. The image below this paragraph is actually the back cover which is advertising one of its products which very likely has nothing to do with treating the children recorded.

Here's the liner notes I read that sealed the deal for me to pick up a copy of this LP:

Dr. Eugene G. Weinberg of the Department of Pediatrics, Groote Schuur Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa, has recorded characteristic sounds made by normal children and by those presenting with illnesses or defects. Here are the cries, coughs and sounds of infants and children - each cry or sound associated with either a normal state, a specific illness or a genetic defect. The physician who realizes the importance of his ability to recognize these and other pediatric sounds possesses an extra diagnostic tool of importance.

KL says that Brother Al is the "usual used car salesman" which he is. Brother Al says that one will achieve health and happiness by reading The Bible and embracing the text contained within. Brother Al also says to write him to his Fresno, California (USA) address quite a lot. I wonder if he read every letter and answered back. Each side includes one gospel song on each side of the LP which are intermissions between the sermons. The songs should appeal to gospel fans.

The United Faith Foundation still has an address in Fresno, California at the present. The first link retrieved when I typed "united faith foundation" and "fresno" in everyone's favorite search engine is a map on Google Maps to the organization's location. Surprisingly, the United Faith Foundation does not have a website which is unbelievable in the year 2010 and free or cheap hosting by Geocities and Tripod are available along with a bunch of social media websites. It's not on Facebook. It doesn't have a blog. Not even a page on that eyesore known as MySpace. Does the United Faith Foundation know anything about the Internet? I bring this up because I want to know if Brother Al is still alive and to find out what it's up to today. I suppose that it would prefer you still write to them at their Fresno, California address instead of e-mailing them.

Michael Blate - Acugenics

Michael Blate - Acugenics

Acugenics is a program where an individual applies self-accupuncture without needles. Fingertips are used at 20 points throughout the body. The user of acugenics is supposed to be relaxed and Blate recommends that acugenics be used at night before the user goes to sleep. By the way, the user should either be naked or at least be wearing light clothing. Acugenics is supposed to be a self-healing method. The user is instructed to apply a few seconds at these sensitive spots. It sounds painful to do. I suppose that the user has to go through more pain before healing takes place.

This recording is dubbed onto what was originally a blank cassette. I found it at (you probably guessed it) a Salvation Army thrift store. I cannot tell what tape or record this recording was ripped from. I believe it is called acugenics as Michael Blate guides one through his Acugenics program while soft music of flute and occasional flourishes of harp play in the background.

On Side 2, Blate guides listeners through a healing program called applied imagination which uses a technique called guided imagery "which releases all the healing benefits stored in your imagination". This is supposed to realize your full potential for well being by balancing the energy throughout your organs. Soft music with harp plays in the background. The applied imagination program sounds less painful than acugenics which sounds more like my thing. I already feel more energetic from hearing this program's description. (He said "groin", "rectum", and "sex organs" heh heh heh heh heh).
