Yes, you've read the post title correctly. We are celebrating the second birthday here at the Basement (actually it's just myself, I just like to use "we" to make it sound more important, that an organization is running this enterprise because apparently nowadays people like organizations over individuals; this blog contradicts mainstream social norms as it is mostly individually ran although I've had some help this past year from other individuals). Speaking of help this past year, I would like to thank those generous enough to contribute some materials to the Basement library and archive as well as fulfilling my requests. Next, I would like to thank the fans and visitors to this blog. I also would like to thank my fellow bloggers and webmasters for linking to the Basement.
I strive to not only bring you, my lovely visitors, some of the most interesting works of entertainment that has the power to help you forget your problems and tribulations in your life, I strive to bring you works that could change and improve your life. Occasionally, there is something that I intend to post that meets one of those criteria, but instead it ends up meeting both criteria.
I could go on and on, but instead of writing out a long self-indulgent and self-congratulatory anniversary or birthday post, I am going to have this post be an interactive one as I let you, my lovely visitors, be involved in this post. I would like to know what are your favorite posts here in the Basement. It can be one, five, ten, or whatever number you think is fit. This is an unscientific survey, but I am curious to know what are the most popular posts of A Basement of Curiosities. In the meantime, I am going to treat myself to a combination of chocolate cake and ice cream as I think I deserve it.
Hi, congratulations for your second birthday: what a success story! I've been reading your posts ever since you started and would like to thank you for all the great stuff I've discovered on your blog.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite postings is Jimmy Nelson's Instant Ventriloquism.
... among many others, too numerous to enumerate
Keep up the good work and let me thank you again!

Congrats! This is no joke- my daughter's softball team was headed for the World Series at Disney World- she was petrified. I found your share of Bill Glass's "Get up for the Game" and we listened to it on the way down. She got on base almost every at bat, scored runs like crazy, and was hitting the ball so hard she got the nickname "hammer." When I asked her about it, she said she was doing what the guy (Bill Glass) told her to do. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis site has been a fun discovery. Some old favorites and plenty of new things to enjoy. I'm partial to the sermons and other religious paraphernalia. A.A. Allen's "Crying Demons" has been on my wish list for years. Hopefully someone will make it available in 2010. Looking forward to another year of great discoveries. Thanks. Until then, iZen.
ReplyDeleteDennis Coffey and Detroit Guitar band rocked.
ReplyDeleteand of course, Neil Brahe's magic power of enthusiasm.
a most excellent blog.
congrats on 2 years, you've posted some bloody gems since I discovered you back in July, if you look you will find eh! A wonderful dazzling eclectic bunch of stuff, that often finds me dizzy with excitement, I particularly enjoyed Zendik Orgazton, splendid, thanks a lot for sharing your gems with us, best wishes heddwch/Peace
ReplyDeleteO Holy Night from the MOOG CHRISTMAS was just ethereal & kozmik.... But the real power of your blog is the overwhelming effect of seeing so many obscure & fascinating posts. Not everything gets listened-to over-&-over, but just about everything is so interesting, that I simply MUST dl it and satisfy my curiosity.

ReplyDeleteThe second part of this is my favorite. The lecture by Frank Peretti on the second tape is great.
I really like most of what you put up, never find this stuff anywhere else.
Thanks
I used Jimmy Nelson's Instant Ventriloquism in a mashup mix that will get released someday, so thanks for that (and everything else).
ReplyDeleteHello to Latelio, harpo, iZen, yragentman, teifidancer, Dennis, Mr Fab, and anonymous (Jan. 4, 2010). Thanks for your comments. I enjoyed reading them all and finding out your favorites.
ReplyDeleteharpo,
That is awesome. Did your daughter's team win?
iZen,
I vow to have "Crying Demons" here in the Basement before the end of 2010.
yragentman,
That Neil Brahe record seems to be drawing a lot of new visitors to the Basement. Once again, thanks for contributing.
Mr Fab,
I hope you release that mashup as I can't wait to hear what you've done with Jimmy Nelson.
Love visiting your site, some great stuff here (i'm into ESP & Mindpower, that's how I found you!). Many thanks and hopefully many years of delight ahead.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated, Eddie.
Happy belated anniversary.
ReplyDeleteI'm in NYC where almost all the thrift & used record stores have fled to cheaper pastures. So, I need the Internet blogs to do my used record shopping for me -- You've been my "hey, I wonder what that one sounds like" personal shopper since I discovered your blog early last year.
I'm not one for religious LPs, but I've downloaded practically all of the other LPs/cassettes you've posted, so you're doing all right without my suggestions.
Besides, you already know I desperately need the Beginner & Intermediate Elk Calling cassettes because it's really tough for a New Yorker to attract elk all the way over here with just the Advanced instructions (I've had no luck whatsoever).
[BTW, I have some odd LPs that might interest you. How do I submit a list and how would you want them uploaded?]
